Executive  Director, New Product Planning and Strategy

The Executive  Director, New Product Planning and Strategy will be a highly accomplished individual with a passion for research and drug development and demonstrated strong track record in leading portfolio strategy and commercial initiatives and driving corporate growth. (S)he will have a mix of the following personal and professional characteristics:

  • BA/BS in a scientific, engineering, financial, business or other relevant field. PhD preferred.
  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in the biotech / pharmaceutical sectors
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in new product / commercial planning, in line marketing and launch planning including development and implementation of cross-functional launch playbooks and roadmaps
  • Expert knowledge of the pharmaceutical / biotech landscape, R&D trends, business strategy and commercial considerations across markets in major disease areas with significant experience in strategic roles
  • Understanding of the qualitative and quantitative aspects of business and commercial opportunities and challenges including identification of risks and prospects, with the ability to link business strategy to diligence findings and performance

Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with proven ability to frame and solve complex problems

Cross-Functional Leadership – Expertise in leading matrixed teams across Commercial, Medical, R&D, and G&A functions, fostering collaboration, aligning strategic priorities, and driving team performance toward shared goals.

Market and Competitive Insight – In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical and biotech landscape, including unmet medical needs, competitive and payer dynamics, and treatment pathways, to inform product positioning and portfolio strategy.

Communication and Influence – Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively present ideas, influence senior leaders, and build strong relationships across diverse internal and external stakeholders. Expert PowerPoint slide development skills, with proven ability to frame and solve complex problems and clear ability to effectively communicate strategy, conclusions and recommendations to executive teams and broader audiences

Entrepreneurial Mindset and Execution – A proactive approach to driving strategic initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with the ability to independently manage priorities, execute plans, and deliver results under minimal supervision.
