We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director of Early Commercial and Business Development to lead the transition to commercial readiness for our rare disease pipeline. This pivotal role combines commercial strategy, market planning, and partnership development, supporting the launch of therapies that will shape the future of treatment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both commercial and transactional execution within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry and be passionate about translating science into approved and accessible medicines.
You will report directly to the President and COO and partner closely with all the functions of our growing organization.
Responsibilities
Early Commercial Strategy:
- Develop and implement commercial launch strategies for our lead neuromuscular disease programs in clinical development.
- Build comprehensive launch plans working closely with related functions to ensure operational effectiveness, financial viability, and seamless execution.
- Develop commercial execution roadmap and support the creation of an evolved organization structure.
- Leverage global market assessments, competitive landscape analyses, evolving regulatory requirements, and pricing/reimbursement evaluations to guide decision-making.
Business Development:
- Identify, evaluate, and execute partnership opportunities, including licensing, collaborations, and acquisitions, to enhance the company’s strategic goals.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including biopharma companies, investors, and academic collaborators.
- Lead the development of deal architecture and terms, and support negotiations of term sheets and agreements with potential partners in collaboration with business development, alliance management, legal, and finance.
- Support due diligence and negotiations, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission and objectives.
Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Collaborate with the program management, research, regulatory, clinical, manufacturing, quality, advocacy, investor relations and operations teams to integrate go-to-market strategies and strategic partnerships.
- Provide input to guide cross-functional program investment prioritization and resource allocation.
- Represent the company at industry conferences and advisory boards as needed.
To thrive on our team, you will need to come with:
• Ph.D., MD, and/or MBA required, with a focus in life sciences, healthcare, or business preferred.
• 15+ years post-education in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries, with a focus on rare diseases, oncology, or Immunology & Inflammation.
• Proven track record of leading early commercial strategy, launch planning, and operational implementation.
• Experience developing a commercial organization and participating in launch rollout.
• Experience leading business development activities and partner engagement.
• Strong strategic planning and analytical skills.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership abilities.
• Deep understanding of the biotechnology landscape, including rare disease market dynamics and competitive intelligence.
