Director of New Product Planning to make impactful contributions to oncology and other drug discovery projects targeting disease areas with high unmet medical need. The successful candidate will be highly organized, self-motivated, and thrive in a dynamic, cross functional start-up environment.
Director of New Product Planning will play a critical role in shaping our indication- and target- level strategies and advancing our clinical pipeline. This individual will lead cross-functional efforts to assess commercial opportunities, define product strategies, and integrate stakeholder insights into Product Development Plans. Success in this role requires strong strategic thinking, collaboration across matrixed teams, and a deep understanding of the biotech landscape.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead commercial opportunity assessments for new indications and targets and build and maintain commercial forecasts based on assessment of disease areas of interest, epidemiology data, unmet needs, competitive landscape, market and reimbursement dynamics and product value proposition.
- Lead market research efforts and support advisory boards by developing discussion guides, facilitating stakeholder engagement, assessing key business and strategy impacts and incorporating into opportunity assessments, product development plans and corporate strategy workstreams.
- Lead competitive intelligence efforts by tracking competitor data, following industry trends and policy updates, attending key conferences when appropriate, and disseminating insights on key business impacts to internal stakeholders.
- Evaluate all programs (Discovery through Clinical) across key scientific, clinical & commercial criteria to assist in portfolio prioritization efforts as/if needed, ensuring alignment with company’s overall business objectives and market opportunities. Contribute to regular portfolio reviews.
- Drive cross-functional development and management of Target Product Profiles (TPPs), incorporating market research and competitive intelligence to define clear go/no-go criteria.
- Serve as the commercial voice on Product Development Teams, ensuring patient and stakeholder needs inform target product profiles (TPPs) and clinical development strategies.
- Collaborate with Clinical, Medical Affairs, Communications and Patient Advocacy to shape early brand messaging, publication strategies, market development activities and patient advocacy strategies; establish strong external relationships to inform strategy and execution.
- Collaborate with Research to assess and prioritize new targets using biological relevance, epidemiological data, and market potential.
- Guide early lifecycle management planning, including assessment of follow-on indications and global launch opportunities.
- Contribute or lead process improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MPA, PharmD, or related) strongly preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience, including at least 5 years in new product planning, global marketing, market access, or strategy consulting.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategic recommendations using both qualitative insights and quantitative data.
- Strong communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills across all levels of the organization.
- Proven success working in dynamic, cross-functional, and matrixed environments.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities with urgency and focus.
- Skilled at analyzing industry trends and translating them into actionable strategies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, balancing attention to detail with strategic vision.
- Able to work independently while fostering collaboration, transparency, and team alignment.
